Football-related arrests involving Reading have more than doubled from pre-Covid 19 levels, but they remain the second lowest in the Championship, latest reports suggest.

According to the latest government statistics, there were nine arrests involving the Royals- predominantly for throwing missiles, entering the pitch and having pyrotechnics.

This is an increase from four in the 2018/19 season, the last not interrupted by the pandemic.

Eight of these took place at away grounds, with one supporter arrested for throwing a pyrotechnic at the SCL Stadium.

This is still the second lowest in the Championship, with Bournemouth seeing just four football-related arrests last campaign.

There were almost 2,100 arrests across the top five divisions last year, compared to 1,307 four years ago.

The club with the highest number of supporters arrested in the 2021/22 season was West Ham United, with 95 arrests.

Millwall (49) and QPR (43) saw the highest levels in the Championship last season, along with Middlesbrough (41) in the 40s.

The  Cherries (4), the Royals (9) and Fulham (9) were the only teams to stay below 10.

In total, 18 of the 24 Championship teams have seen increased figures since pre-pandemic levels- some as much as 20 times.
