A serial TK Maxx shoplifter who stole £875-worth of the store’s clothes has been jailed for 36 weeks.

Marian-Cornel Moldovan, of Shrewbury Avenue, Harrow, first stole clothing valued at £239.97 from the Reading branch of the discount department store on February 27.

The 44-year-old was handed a 10 week prison sentence prison sentence suspended for 12 months on April 5 at Reading Magistrates’ Court, only to reoffend twice in the following five months.

He then took two women’s tops and eight pairs of jeans worth £450 from TK Maxx in Chilwell Retail Park, Attenborough, on July 14.

At Nottinghamshire Magistrates’ Court on September 6, Moldovan’s suspended sentenced was implemented and he received an additional 24 weeks in prison for the offence on July 14.

He was handed a 12 week jail sentence for the offence on May 30, to be served concurrently.

The court records note he offended while subject to a community sentence and a suspended sentence, and that the length of his sentence was aggravated by the defendant's record of previous offending.

Moldovan was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £187 and to pay costs of £85.

He has until February 26, 2023, to pay the full amount, £272.
