New Reading striker Andy Carroll has revealed that he is fit and ready to go as early as tomorrow's match against Wigan Athletic.

The Geordie signed a four month deal yesterday, hoping to add to the two goals he scored in eight appearances last season for the Royals.

Potentially taking part in as many as 19 fixtures for Paul Ince's team, the first could come at the DW Stadium.

Speaking to the club upon his arrival, he said: "That's what I've been wanting to do, I've  been working outside the club and get myself to as high as I can without being in the team and come straight in so I can fit in with the lads. Monday morning I came in and trained, I've trained all week and hopefully I can be involved on the weekend."

Alongside Carroll, it is thought that Shane Long may be able to be involved in the squad somewhere, although  still recovering from a flu it is unlikely they will risk him if they can avoid doing so.

Loanee Baba Rahman is still not fit enough to play 90 minutes, while Mamadou Loum hit 45 minutes on Wednesday in recovery from his groin injury.

Ince's side will be looking to bounce back after suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat to Sunderland on Wednesday.
