Reading’s three match winning run ended with a heavy 4-0 defeat to Sheffield United.

Here are the player ratings.

Reading Chronicle:

Joe Lumley- 6: Despite shipping four goals, there was no a lot Lumley could do to prevent them. Distribution poor at times, average performance.

Andy Yiadom- 6: Tried to impact the game going forward as he usually does but a quiet game by the skipper’s standards. Not close enough to the cross for the first goal.

Tom Holmes- 6: Run ragged for most of the night and was left exposed with Yiadom pushing further forward. No defender comes away with much credit after a heavy defeat.

Sam Hutchinson- 6: Same as always, prepared to put his body on the line and was comfortable on the ball. Constantly talking.

Naby Sarr- 6: Only played opening 45 minutes and was composed throughout.

Junior Hoilett- 6: Not his favoured position and saw a lot of attacks come down his side of the pitch. Can go back to attacking once Baba Rahman’s return is confirmed.

Tom McIntyre- 6: Game of two halves. Played in midfield during the first half and struggled. Always seemed one step behind the attacker and looked lost at times. Second half dropped back to defence and looked okay.

Reading Chronicle:

Mamadou Loum- 6: Flashes of brilliance but struggled without Tyrese Fornah beside him in the first half. Exciting to watch but ultimately little end product.

Jeff Hendrick- 5: Lots of energy but very little result.

Tom Ince- 5: Ran very hard as ever but impossible to make a big impact when receiving so little of the ball. Could have, and should have, done better with a shot in the first half which would have brought the teams level.

Lucas Joao- 5: Non-existent. Very little energy and was not strong enough at holding the ball up. Expect better from such a key player in the team.

Substitutes

Tyrese Fornah- 6: Bundle of energy but the game was over within five minutes of his arrival after losing his man at a corner.

Shane Long- 6: Comfortably behind when he came on the pitch and was chasing shadows.
Michael Craig- 6: Looked composed for such a young and inexperienced player. Slotted in well and did everything expected of him.
