Reading rose to the top of the Championship with a 1-0 win over Millwall at the Den.

Here are the player ratings

Joe Lumley- 6: Back in after sitting out the Middlesbrough win, the keeper was rarely tested despite constant pressure from the Lions. Brave at claiming crosses and one strong save in the first half the standout for the former QPR stopper.

Reading Chronicle:

Andy Yiadom- 7: A typical Yiadom performance, the Ghana international was defensively solid and provided a threat on the counter when given the chance.

Tom Holmes- 7: Always a tough afternoon for defenders against Millwall, the vice-captain put in a solid performance to win tackles and headers. Did everything that was required.

Sam Hutchinson- 7: Commanded the defence well, using every ounce of his experience. Walks away with a broken nose but the kind of blood and guts performance the former Sheffield Wednesday star thrives on.

Naby Sarr- 8: A behemoth at the back, a stellar performance after a month without match action. Took his goal well and threw himself in front of everything for his teammates.

Reading Chronicle:

Tom McIntyre- 7: Out of position but a great performance from the fan favourite. Coped well with his opposite number and looked to get forward where possible. An intelligent display from the Academy graduate.

Mamadou Loum- 7: Showed great drive throughout to link the forward play and defensive line. Flashes of technical excellence alongside grit.

Tyrese Fornah- 7: No stunning goal this week but another accomplished performance from the youngster. Is visibly growing in confidence and ability with every passing match.

Jeff Hendrick- 6: Good performance from the Newcastle United loanee, pressing high and prepared to do the hard yards. Should have capped it off with a goal in the second half.

Tom Ince- 6: A quiet game on the ball for the creative star but still ran incredibly hard. A threat on the counter but had less chance to show it than in previous matches.

Reading Chronicle:

Lucas Joao- 6: As with most of the attacking stars, had little to feed off of but that did not stop them throwing everything into the game. His first start of the season and he bullied his centre-half for most of the match.

Substitute

Shane Long- 6: Did exactly what was asked of him for the final period of the game, but missed a guilt-edged chance to put the game to bed.
