Reading forward Emma Harries is 'very excited' about the prospect of playing in front of a record crowds this season in the aftermath of the Lionesses European Championships win.

Almost 500 season tickets have been sold so far, a huge increase on the less than 100 sold last season, with the opening day clash with Liverpool set to be a club record attendance.

The 20-year-old is currently out after suffering a PCL injury last season, but the Academy graduate can't wait to get started.

"It’s an exciting season," she sarted. "It’s definitely got stronger, and I think it will be a challenge for us but one that we are really looking forward to.

"For us as a club it’s a brilliant achievement and one we want to continue to keep pushing. Women’s football has become very popular, which it rightly should be, and hopefully we can get even more season tickets sold and fans into the stadium.

"I think it makes us more excited to know more fans are entering the stadium and for us that’s really important- more than ever probably this season as the league is getting harder. I think it’s a really exciting time for us as a team and we’re ready to go into the new season now and hopefully push on."

Yet to put a return date on her injury lay-off, Harries admitted it was a tough period but that she is well on the way to a return to the pitch in the coming weeks.

"It was a hard time for me," she admitted. "Being only 20 and experiencing an injury that big was heart-breaking on the back of the season I had last year.

"I’m in a really good place. I’ve done a lot of rehab over the summer and feel really good in myself. I want to take it game by game, like the team, as I’ve just come back from a big injury. I’m a striker so obviously I’m going to put pressure on myself to create and score, but at the same time I have to relax a little bit and accept that I’ve had such a major injury.
