Reading Head of Football Operations, Mark Bowen, delved into the role of super agent Kia Joorabchian.

The British-Iranian has been reportedly involved in many transfers at the club down the years, with him being a 'close advisor' to owner Mr Dai.

A figure never short of newspaper headlines, scandals such as Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano's move to West Ham in 2006 caught the media's attention.

Bowen, only arriving in his role over the summer, spoke to supporters at the Supporters Trust at Reading fan forum- alongside boss Paul Ince and assistant Alex Rae.

Speaking on the influence Joorabchian holds in Berkshire, the former Wales international confirmed that he has 'no power influence.'

"I’ve known Kia Joorabchian for 20 odd years," started Bowen. "I’ve had my ups and my downs with him. The one thing I will say about him is that he’s an advisor. The owner values his opinion strongly. The main thing is a lot of misinformation goes out there. Some true, there’s no doubt about that, but some misinformation.

"Last year, I wasn’t involved in the club I was looking from afar, people like Danny Drinkwater came in and Baba [Rahman] where he personally negotiated that we were paying them next to nothing because of his relationship with Marina [Granovskaia] so there’s a lot of things he’s done good for the club. Maybe there’s been times where it hasn’t gone so well but at the moment, and ongoing, Kia Joorabchian has no power influence within the club."

Reading Chronicle:

A topic which has been mentioned regularly over recent seasons, when speaking to the media before the season began Bowen added: "Every owner and chief executive will have people within football that he asks for advice on football things, especially the absent owners which we have.  Mr Dai spends as much time as he can in this country but his business interests outside the country so it’s not just Reading Football Club. There’s a massive difference between that happening and someone having direct involvement in the club."
