Reading boss Kelly Chambers admits that this coming WSL season will be a challenge, but that she is raring to go with just three weeks until the curtain-raiser.

Newly-promoted Liverpool travel to the SCL Stadium on Sunday, September 11 for the first match of the season, with more than 500 expected to be in attendance.

Following the Lionesses success in the European Championships, record attendances are expected across the country- with the Royals no different.

More than 400 season tickets have been sold, an increase of more than 350 since last season, and manager Chambers cannot wait.

Speaking to the media, she said: "Off the back of the Euros everyone is excited for the season to kick-off. Even looking at the Championship which started last week, the excitement to kick that off was huge and for us to have Liverpool at home is so exciting. To get a record attendance and all the work that others have put in to make it happen have been phenomenal.

"We want it to grow, the biggest thing was getting people in stadiums to watch. It’s grown a little bit year on year, but we will see a massive jump now on the back of the Euros so yes there’s pressure but for us it’s about the enjoyment of people watching our sport live in the crowd and cheering on their team."

Following Birmingham City's relegation last season, Reading are now the only side outside of the men's Premier League to be in the women's top division.

Speaking on the challenges this will bring, Chambers added: "We’re the only Championship club in the league and probably one of the smallest clubs so we know it’s going to be a challenge.  We’ve always been a team that have competed, some might say overachieved in some seasons, but first and foremost we want to stay in this league. We want to finish above where we finished last season."
