Reading winger Junior Hoilett revealed that boss Paul Ince had a suspicion the Canadian would score against his former side Blackburn Rovers- something he went on to do in glorious fashion.

The World Cup hopeful made his name with the Lancashire side, playing almost 100 games from 2009 until 2012.

Picking the ball up on the right hand side of the penalty box, the midfielder cut in and unleashed an unstoppable shot past Thomas Kaminski- into the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar.

Giving the Royals a two goal advantage, another former Rover- Lucas Joao- rounded off a fine display to finish 3-0.

Speaking to the club media after the match, Hoilett confirmed that former Blackburn manager Ince thought he might score.

"The gaffer told me before the game I was going to score one and I felt it, so it is good to get my first goal of the season, but the three points is the main thing," Hoilett beamed.

“Our ‘keeper Joe made a terrific save and we came down the other end and put it in the net so to get the goal was especially important at that moment.

“We were dominating throughout the whole game, we had chances before that to go 2-0 up and in the end, we could have had more than three tonight.

“That’s what we need to do everyone needs to be accounted for and play their part, we scored at the right times and kept up that momentum throughout the game.

“And that is how we needed to do react from what was a difficult result on Saturday and the fans showed up today and helped us, so it is a great night all round.”
