Reading boss Paul Ince labelled the 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers 'one of the best performances since I've been here.'

Starting fast, Tom McInytre gave the Royals an early lead but second half strikes from Junior Hoilett and Lucas Joao rounded off a comfortable win against the league leaders.

Ince, a former Rovers boss, only took charge of the club on a permanent basis over the summer after three months as interim manager.

Speaking to Radio 5 Live after the match, he said: "It's the first time as manager of Reading that I've been able to go phew after 3-0 as evey other result I've had has been like 1-0 or 2-1 or whatever so the lads deserve so much credit- one of the best performances since I've been here.

"They thoroughly deserved it, put a shift in and were clinicla when they had to be."

Reading Chronicle:

Losing 4-0 to Rotherham United on Saturday, it was chalk and cheese at the SCL on Wednesday- but Ince believes there was no real difference from him.

"The difference is it’s the Championship. They were top of the table and then they get beat tonight. The Championship is very up and down. Some games you play well, some you don’t. It was great to be at home with the fans right behind us. We’re a front foot team. These players never give in, even against Rotherham in the second-half we had more possession, more crosses. We have to keep performing the way we can. It was a great reaction but it’s gone now and we move on to a very good side in Middlesbrough."
