A heroin dealer who bit an officer arresting him will serve four years and eight months in prison.

Police arrested Byron Haines on April 11 after seeing him make a drug deal in plain site of Oxford Road police station at 6am.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug of class A, namely heroin and crack cocaine, and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The officer attacked by Haines required medical attention for his forearm.

“The Stronghold team will proactively and robustly target and prosecute offenders involved in the supply of drugs,” said Detective Constable Aimee Usher, of Reading police station.

“Our activity will be both visible and covert, aimed at disrupting and pursuing offenders."

Haines, 31, of HMP Bullingdon, was found with a large quantity of cash and a phone, which showed he was involved in the running of a county drugs line.

Haines, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday (August 12).
