Reading fan favourite Tom McIntyre apologised to fans on social media after a heavy defeat to Rotherham United on Saturday.
Losing 4-0 in South Yorkshire to a newly-promoted Millers outfit, defensive mishaps saw the side ship four goals by half-time.
Central defender McIntyre played the full 90 on the ground where he made his league debut in 2018, suffering a difficult afternoon against the pace of Chiedozie Ogbene.
Personally and collectively yesterday wasn’t good enough. Apologies to the fans who made the trip as we all know those aren’t the standards that are expected. We go again on Wednesday and make sure we put it right. pic.twitter.com/OTtZRxTuZt

Taking to Twitter after the defeat, the 23-year-old said: "Personally and collectively yesterday wasn’t good enough. Apologies to the fans who made the trip as we all know those aren’t the standards that are expected. We go again on Wednesday and make sure we put it right."
With over 70 appearances to his name for his boyhood club, two late goals last season in a win over Sheffield United and draw with Swansea City secured cult status for the Academy graduate.
Next up for the Royals is two home matches in four days as Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough travel down to Berkshire.
Rovers are the only team in the division with a 100 per cent record this season, while Chris Wilder's Boro are winless with two draws and a defeat.
