1. Mother's moving tribute to 'beautiful boy' who was 'taken in such a cruel way'

“Until we meet again, I love you my little boy, we all do."

That's the message from the family of Sheldon Lewcock, 19, who died on Tuesday (August 9) following an incident on Pierces Hill, Tilehurst. 

Sheldon was taken to hospital following the incident, which allegedly involved a collision with a van, on August 4.

2. Headliner replacing Rage Against The Machine at Reading Festival revealed

The 1975 will replace Rage Against the Machine at Reading and Leeds 2022, the festival have confirmed.

The quartet will play on Sunday (August 28) in Reading, alongside co-headliner Halsey, vocalist Matthew healey posted to his Instagram page today (Friday).

Rage Against the Machine pulled out yesterday (Thursday) due to medical issues.

In a statement on Facebook, Rage Against The Machine said: “Per medical guidance Zack de la Rocha has been advised that the August and September 2022 UK and European leg of the Rage Against The machine tour cannot proceed.

3. Trial set for man who allegedly prevented burial of man he is accused of murdering

A man accused of preventing the proper burial of the 46-year-old he allegedly murdered is set to stand trial. 

Nyiah Williams, of Hadrian Walk East, Reading, was charged after Duane Denny, from Oxford Road, was found dead in Erith, London on September 15, 2021. 

Denny had been reported missing in August 2021. 

Williams, who was also 46 at the time of Denny’s discovery, was subsequently charged with murder, preventing a lawful burial and perverting the course of justice.

4. Dangerous driver spared jail after being cleared of causing friend's death

A DANGEROUS driver will not go to prison after being cleared of causing the crash that killed his friend. 

Luke Sterritt, of Nutwood, Betchworth, Surrey, was acquitted of causing death by dangerous driving following a trial in June of this year but was convicted of dangerous driving. 

This came following an incident on Mortimer Road, Grazeley on January 30, 2020, in which Joel Sycamore, aged 20, crashed his red Vauxhall Astra into a house and tragically died.

5. Body found in woodland in search for missing man

A BODY has been found in the search for a missing man from Newbury.

The man's body was located in woodlands in Combe Gibbet by a search and rescue team at around 10.50pm last night (August 12).

Formal identification hasn't yet taken place but officers believe this to be the body of missing man, Benjamin, 23, from Newbury.
