Reading boss Paul Ince confirmed he is awaiting 'the nod' to sign a left-back from a Premier League side.

Currently the former England captain has just '11 or 12 first team players' to choose from, one being 22-year-old left-back Nesta Guinness-Walker.

The former AFC Wimbledon full-back has played 90 minutes in the last three matches but is the only player in his position in the squad.

Speaking to the media ahead of the trip to Rotherham United, the Manchester United legend alluded to a potential incoming.

"We're waiting for someone to give us the nod so we can get this player because we're relying on another club - a Premier League club.

"These clubs are like 'let's wait until the end of the window then we'll make a decision.'

But we want to get him in now and playing so you're controlled by the Premier League club.

"If you want a player on loan, you're controlled by then as to when they want to release him, and that's what we are waiting for.

"As soon as we get the nod, hopefully it'll be next week, then we can have him so fingers crossed."

Ince went on to confirm that a midfielder is also on the agenda, with just two slots to fill before hitting the 25-man EFL quota.
