Former Reading midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru is out for 'two to three months' his manager has confirmed.
The 22-year-old spent last season in Berkshire on loan from Watford, scoring four goals in 38 appearances.
An athletic player with an eye for a spectacular goal, the Manchester-born Hornet caught the eye at Reading- particularly early on in RG2.
Speaking to the media, Watford boss Rob Edwards said: "Tom will be missing for two or three months, which is obviously disappointing. No one wants to be injured, even if it’s a week. Tom has started really well, has had a great pre-season and is a great lad working really hard and showing lots of quality."
This is not his first major injury, missing six months in 2020/21 after having surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament sustained against the Royals.
Paul Ince has injury concerns of his own, with Ovie Ejaira joining a long list of first team players out.
Ahead of the trip to Rotherham United, the former England cpatain confirmed that he only has '11 or 12 first team players' to choose from.
