The Reading Chronicle asked you to nominate your favourite Reading pub – and you did not disappoint.

After totting up the votes, we can now reveal the six boozers battling it out to be crowned Reading Chronicle’s Best Pub of 2022.

An extensive selection process has whittled down hundreds of Reading pubs to find the best which are listed below.

The Falcon

The Fox and Hounds

The Greyfriars

The Nag’s Head

The Victoria

The Volunteer

We spoke to some of the pubs who were delighted to have been nominated by many of their loyal customers.

Landlord of The Fox and Hounds, Kevin Durkan said: “Getting nominated as one of the best pubs in Reading is brilliant.

“We’re a specialist pub and focus on offering a wide selection of craft beers and ales. I think we were nominated because we have very loyal customers not just from the area, but from all over Reading.

“Visitors come back again and again because of the booze we stock and the overall vibe.”

The Greyfriars, just off Caversham Road is a specialist pub famous for it’s independent supply of craft ales and independent brands.

Amelia Kaye, the manager said: “We are so pleased to have been nominated and it came as such a surprise when we found out.

“All of our locals love the selection that we offer and keep coming back for more.”

The Victoria, which has also been voted is prided for it’s ‘epic’ Sunday roasts and food menu.

Owner of the popular Reading pub Dave Kes said: “We feel fantastic about being able to say we have made the top six.

“We have a wide range of drafts and our Sunday roasts always sell out because of the popularity of them.

“We get locals coming in every Sunday for a roast and we pride ourselves on that.”

The next step is to vote for your favourite. To do this, you will need to collect the tokens that will be printed in the Reading Chronicle each week from now  up to August 18.
