Firefighters fought to contain a blaze which tore through a field in Reading.

Engines from six stations rushed to Circuit Lane, Southcote, just after 3pm yesterday (August 9), as the blaze fed off the dry grass.

Smoke was seen by residents rising over the treetops while a six-while-drive pump was used to control the fire.
