An order stopping anyone apart from the owner and his carer from entering a property in Calne has been renewed by a court.

Wiltshire Police have successfully extended a partial closure order which prevented any person other than the occupant and his carer from entering a property on Harris Court.

The force applied for the initial order in May after the people going to the house were said to have “caused a lot of impact on the local community, businesses and residents, in regards to drugs use, anti-social behaviour and drug dealing”.

PC Jonathan Hawke told Swindon Magistrates’ Court that the closure order was helping the occupant improve.

Earlier, he had told the court that the resident “has a number of vulnerabilities, and also health issues himself and isn’t strong enough to turn these individuals away that are using his address”.

“As time has gone on you can see [the resident] is physically improving in his health and is engaging with such departments such as Turning Point,” PC Hawke said.

The officer went on to say that there were two breaches, with the same individual being arrested on two days in July.

“This further extension will further help and support [the resident] and safeguard him as well as avoiding any issues such as community impact on businesses and residents.”

The three-month extension was granted by magistrates.
