A cheese and craft beer shop is opening a bar in Reading.

The Grumpy Goat, in Union Street, better known as Smelly Alley, is expanding is laid back vibes onto the first floor.

An extensive wine list, cheese and charcuterie plates and eight keg lines are expected on August 19.

“If this sounds like your kind of thing, we would love you to celebrate our opening with us,” its owners wrote on Facebook.

“We are so excited to welcome you all to our cosy little hangout.”

Once the bar opens at 8pm, the first 20 customers will get a free drink.

The Grumpy Goat has been a staple of Reading since 2013, first serving residents from Harris Arcade before moving the Union Street.

The independent shop stocks more than 500 craft beers and ales; 60 artisan cheeses; cider; mead; spirits and wine.

They now serve coffee and tea along with grilled cheese sandwiches.
