1. Thomas Parker: Victim of Reading station murder named

Reading Chronicle:

The 24-year-old victim of a fatal attack in Reading station has been named.

Thomas Parker was attacked in a ‘needless act of violence’ on Platform 8 on Saturday night (July 30), British Transport Police said.

A 42-year-old man has been charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon following the incident.

Thomas’s family have chosen to release a tribute along with the photo below.

2. Man found dead in Woodford Park, Woodley

Reading Chronicle:

The body of a 32-year-old man has been found in Woodford Park, Woodley, this morning (August 2).

Police are treating it as unexplained but non-suspicious.

Officers have asked residents to avoid the area but stated there is no wider threat to the public.

There will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the day.

A grandmother who played a lucky dip via the National Lottery app has scooped more than £1,000,000. 

Di Foster, 63 from Reading, won £1,049,669 when she bought a lucky dip ticket online in April 2021.

Her wish has now come true to buy a home for herself and one for each of her daughters just around the corner.

5. Man charged with murder after fatal attack at Reading station

Reading Chronicle:

A 42-year-old man has been charged with murder after a train passenger was fatally injured at Reading station.

Kirkpatrick Virgo, of Whitby Road, Slough, Berkshire is due to appear at Reading Crown Court on Monday charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

The charges relate to the death of a 24-year-old man who was attacked at the station on Saturday, following an altercation on a train.
