A woman is searching for answers after her estranged sister died suddenly in a Reading retail park.

Michelle Marriott, 60, suffered a fatal heart attack in a car park outside Aldi, Majestic Wines and the Range in Vastern Road on July 11.

She had not been in contact with her family since 2018 and there are no records of where she was living or who with.

“I’m totally and utterly in shock, I can’t grieve until I know where she has been. The unanswered question is taking over everything,” said sister Yvonne Dudhill, 66, from Leeds.

“I’d like to ask if anybody knew her and where she’d been living, so that we can lay everything to rest.”

Paramedics tried to resuscitate Michelle when she was discovered in Vastern Court Retail Park, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Michelle, who is survived by two sons, was found with a pair of house keys in her hand bag, alongside her passport, toiletries and headphones.

Yvonne believes her sister was living in Reading, but she cannot find any council tax or utility bills that indicate where.

She said Michelle did not work nor did she receive Universal Credit, and when she visited the property registered to her GP surgery, the landlord said there was no record of Michelle ever living there.

Calls to homeless charities provided her with no further information, so Yvonne is appealing to the public for help.

“She would have had pictures of her sons who live in Germany and her grandchildren, and she was my sister at the end of the day. Regardless of anything, you don’t want to think that you can’t retrieve anything of theirs and not do the best by them,” said Yvonne.

Michelle used to work for the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes, setting up camps for the soldiers in conflicts.

She was fitted with a stent after surviving a heart attack in 2020.
