After three months without football at the SCL Stadium, the action is back as Paul Ince's Royals host Cardiff City in the first home match of the season.

Here’s what you need to know about tomorrow’s match-up.

Reading started the 2022/23 Championship campaign in less than ideal circumstances, losing 1-0 to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

More than 1000 backed the side in Lancashire and saw a much-improved second half performance as the Royals were unfortunate to walk away empty-handed.

It is the opposite for the Bluebirds, with Steve Morison's side beating newly-relegated Noriwch City at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Romaine Sawyers' debut strike was enough for the three points as both teams ended with 10 men on the field.

Unbeaten over pre-season, the Welsh outfit will be a difficult tie in RG2.

Team News

The injury hoodoo has struck again in Berkshire, with more than five key stars set to miss out.

Lucas Joao, Sam Hutchinson and Femi Azeez all missed out on the match with the Tangerines and they will be joined by two unnamed players, as revealed by boss Ince ahead of the match.

Perry Ng will be missing for the visitors due to his red card last time out, with defender Curtis Nelson likely to step up.

Last Time Out: Reading 1-2 Cardiff City, April 9 2022

Sat eight points clear of the bottom three, it looked like a result that would keep the Royals up as a Lucas Joao strike gave Ince an early lead.

Unfortunately late strikes from Alfie Doughty and Will Vaulks flipped the game on its head and kept the relegation pressure on with just five matches remaining.
