Reading summer trialist Connor Wickham has joined League One outfit Forest Green Rovers until January.
The 29-year-old was in the Royals academy as a child and spent most of the summer working with the club, scoring in a pre-season friendly against Maidenhead United.
Despite finding the net, the former Sunderland and Ipswich Town forward was let go ahead of the 1-1 draw with West Ham United.
Now at the New Lawn, the newly promoted third tier side will be hoping to get him firing after a career spent predominantly in the upper reaches of the Football League.
Speaking to the club upon signing, he said: "I had a chat with the manager last week and I had a good think about it and this is definitely an exciting project that I want to be part of.
"This team are coming into this season on the back of getting promoted and the club are going in the right direction.
"The style of play at Forest Green suits me and is a part to my game that some people may not be aware of. I want to get back to my best here."
Fellow trialists Jodi Jones, Josh Murphy and Julian Jeanvier have all found clubs ahead of the early stages of the new campaign.
