IT'S not uncommon to see a group of friends drinking on a train. 

Sipping an alcoholic beverage on a railway is not illegal, but being drunk and disorderly at a railway station or in any other public place is. 

It is an offence under the Criminal Justice Act 1967 and punishments range from a conditional discharge to a fine. 

Here are the names of boozers from Berkshire and beyond who have been too drunk at stations in the royal county and when they were sentenced.

February 15

SEBASTIAN ZADURA, 35, of Russell Street, Reading, admitted being drunk and disorderly at Reading Railway Station on January 18, 2022. Conditional discharge for 12 months. Must pay £107 in court fees. 

March 16

CALLUM PARSONS, 19, of Loyd Road, Didcot, admitted being drunk and disorderly at Reading Station on February 11, 2022. Given a four-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £107 in court fees. 

May 11

THOMAS FINNEY, 28, of Beechwood Close, Goring Heath, convicted of being drunk and disorderly and sexual assault at Twyford train station on June 8, 2021. Community order made. Requirement to take part in up to 45 days of rehabilitation activities. Must pay £870 in court fees. 

June 28

KURT LANCASTER, 22, of Hamilton Road, Wargrave, convicted of travelling on a railway without having paid a fare in Reading on March 11, 2021. Also convicted of being drunk and disorderly in a public place, namely Twyford railway station, on April 28, 2022. Fined £190, made to pay compensation of £4 and ordered to pay £84 in costs. 

CAPRICE WHITE, 31, of Esher Road, Camberley, Surrey, admitted being drunk and disorderly at Reading Station and assaulting two police officers on May 14, 2022. Community order made. Requirement to abstain from alcohol for 113 days. Ordered to pay compensation of £100. 

July 12

RYAN GILLES, 25, of Bechill Road, Datchet, admitted being drunk and disorderly and assaulting two police officers, namely spitting, at Reading Station on July 11, 2022. Committed to prison for 28 weeks and ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge. 

July 21

STEPHEN GOULD, 35, of Flambards, Caversham, admitted being drunk and disorderly and assaulting two police officers at Reading Station on January 20, 2022. Committed to prison for six months as offence was ‘unprovoked attack of a serious nature’. Ordered to pay £100 in compensation.
