Reading boss Paul Ince believes young striker Jahmari Clarke could be a 'great asset' for the Royals this season.

The Jamaica youth international scored two goals for the first team against Birmingham City last season but did not feature until then-interim manager Ince.

Despite the incoming Shane Long, Lucas Joao, Yakou Meite and potentially George Puscas, Ince believes that Clarke is one to watch for the coming campaign.

Speaking to the media after defeat to Brighton in pre-season, he commented: "Jahmari is one that I’m excited about. I’m glad he’s signed his new contract, that was important. I spoke to Jahmari when I was on holiday to get him to sign, and I said if you get yourself right you can be a great asset for us. there is an opportunity for Jahmari Clarke. Physically he is a powerhouse, but he is young. Hopefully we’ll give him some minutes this year."

However one who does not look to be involved in the first team much this coming campaign is defender Jeriel Dorsett.

The centre-back signed a new contract with the club over the summer after a strong season with Rochdale, winning personal acolades at Spotland.

"I think it’s another loan," Ince said in response to a question on his immediate future. "We look at them day in and day out and they need to go get experience. He did well at Rochdale but is he quite ready for the first team; I don’t think so."
