Clas Ohlson could shut down sooner than initially expected as the closing store runs out of stock.
The Broad Street homeware and hardware shop, which is the last of its kind in the UK, announced it was shutting for the final time last month with a 30 per cent off sale.
Staff told the Chronicle they expected the shop to close at the end of August.

However, Clas Ohlson is now operating a 50 per cent sale and stock is flying off the shelves.
The Chronicle went back to the store to find out if a final opening date had been confirmed but two staff members were unable to say when the cashiers would close for good.
They said they expected the store to close before the end of August, however, as the shop is rapidly running out of stock.
One employee suggested Clas Ohlson could close nearer to the start of August.

Clas Ohlson’s Reading store was the last-standing physical shop after all of its other outlets closed in 2018 and 2019.
Its aim was to continue operating online, but the brand’s UK website subsequently closed too.
Now, Clas Ohlson products can only be purchased in the UK from the brand’s page on Amazon.
The Swedish firm continues to operate in Nordic countries.
