As with every transfer window, football teams get linked with hundreds of players thought to be close to joining the Royals.

This summer has been no different for Paul Ince's side.

We take a look at the players rumoured to be arriving in Berkshire but have gone elsewhere.

Andre Gray- Aris

The hunt for an experienced striker was seemingly on in early June, with multiple names thrown forward.

First reported by Footy Insider, the former Burnley and Watford striker was rumoured to have been of interest to the club, alongside others such as Preston, but the 31-year-old is now with Greek Super League club, Aris.

Charlie Austin- Brisbane Roar

Another 30+ year-old striker who have played their trade predominantly in the Championship, Hungerford-born Austin was linked by Footy Insider the week after his one-time QPR teammate Gray was.

A striker with ties to Berkshire, with Reading having released him as a youngster, he decided to move abroad and is now in Australia.

Matthew Sorinola- Swansea City

TeamTALK had linked the left-back with the Royals last month, just a year on from his move to Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.

The 21-year-old, formerly of MK Dons, instead linked up with former boss Russell Martin and Championship rivals Swansea City.

Jack Tucker- MK Dons

First broken in the Sun, it was reported that the Royals were after both Tucker Middlesbrough goalkeeper Joe Lumley.

Eventually signing the shot-stopper, it was believed that compensation could not be agreed between the four-time Gillingham Young Player of the Year and the club, with the centre-back deciding on Liam Manning's MK instead.

Rafael Camacho- Aris

Another who has rocked up in Greece, Lucas Sposito in Portugal linked the winger with Reading three weeks ago.

The 22-year-old spent three years with Liverpool but has struggled since moving to Sporting Lisbon in 2019, spending last season with Belenenses and now joining Aris on a season-long loan.

Boli Bolingoli- Mechelen

The 27-year-old defender was an outcast from Scottish giants Celtic after breaking Covid-19 protocol in 2020, embarking on two unsuccessful loan spells to Russia and Turkey.

A centre-back who can play left-back, the Belgian born star has headed back to his home country after five years away.

Victor Adeboyejo- Burton Albion

The former Barnsley striker was one of many centre-forward's linked to the club so far this summer.

The 24-year-old hit three goals for the Tykes last season as they were relegated from the Championship, just 12 months on from reaching the play-offs.

Within a week of the rumour surfacing, the former Bristol Rovers and Leyton Oreint forward had arrived and signed at the Pirelli Stadium.
