Now finally back in blue and white, playing the final 30 minutes against West Ham in Saturday's 1-1 draw.

Speaking to the media after his second debut, he gave his thoughts on his return reveal.

"I kind of got it, he started. "I’m not really on social media but my mother-in-law updated me on what was happening in the WhatsApp group saying I’d been spotted in the Oracle when I was most likely on holiday in Portugal.

"It was tricky not to be spotted and get released before hand, but the media team did a good job. It was a bit of a laugh, good fun to announce it and I think the fans enjoyed it."

After eight years with Southampton, and more than a decade playing in the Premier League, the Irishman signed a one year contract with Paul Ince and the club.
