Reading coach Alex Rae says that they're doing all they can to bring players into the football club.

Joining on a permanent basis alongside Paul Ince in May, former Wolves midfielder Rae is the right-hand man to the former England captain.

With multiple key stars departing over the summer, most visible in the midfield, the Scot insists more will be coming into the club ahead of the season starting in a fortnight.

Speaking after a 1-1 draw with West Ham in pre-season, he said: "We will be continuously trying to add to the squad, we got a fortnight now before we kick off properly and we’re trying to do that on a daily basis.

"One of the things that was evident was the turnover of players, so it was important to get them in, but it is important to get the right ones in. we’re constantly on Wyscout looking for players and getting recommended players so it’s time consuming. We’re trying every avenue so when we do go into the season, we have the proper personnel to back up what we already have."

Falling behind in the second half to David Moyes' Hammers, Yakou Meite pulled one back to ensure the Royals left the game with something other than minutes in the legs.

"We had already pencilled in the minutes for the ones who started," he explained. "It was a good opportunity to see the younger guys and I thought they did really well.

"I think it was a really good runout in difficult conditions. It gave the supporters the opportunity to see what we’ve got at the moment and when we get a few more in the door we’ll be ready."
