The overbridge at Junction 11 on the M4 near Reading
The M4 was closed in both directions at the junction for Reading after a woman was spotted on the overbridge.
Police attended the fear for welfare incident at around 3.40am and it was safely resolved.
The motorway reopened after three hours and emergency services left the scene.
Traffic has resumed as normal.
