Former Reading Women midfielder has returned to the club as General Manager.

Brooke Chaplen was forced to retire in April due to receiving treatment for a bone tumour.

The tumour has since been removed and the former Chelsea star has begun work in her new backroom role.

Working closely with manager Kelly Chambers, the role will see Chaplen take over the day-to-day operations of the football club, providing support with personnel, finance and logistics.

On her new role she said, “I’m really looking forward to this new chapter.

“It’s been a great couple of months, spending time with my family, focusing on my recovery but now it’s time for something new.

“When Kelly approached me with this opportunity, there was no doubt in my mind about it. I love this club, so having this chance to continue being here, I had to take it.

“It will certainly take some getting used to, but I’m raring to go and excited to get started.”
