Bike owners across Berkshire have seen a rise in thefts of their beloved eco-friendly transportation over the years.
From Windsor to Newbury, the number of bicycle theft crimes reported varies from area to area.
Although bike owners and police have tried to put in measures to prevent theft, most crimes remain unsolved or under investigation. Data has found that many times the suspect is unable to be prosecuted for one reason or another.

According to map made with the latest police data (April 2022) the densest area of bicycle theft is Reading with 86 thefts reported throughout the town.
Slough also seems to be incredibly popular when it comes to bike theft. So much so that they have recently started a free programme that allows bike owners to register their bike with a QR code and tracker to help police track it’s location after the theft.
For Bracknell and Wokingham, the most thefts seem to be around the town centres, where people may have left theirs while browsing or grabbing a bite with friends.
Surprisingly, the latest data shows that there were only 3 thefts in Newbury and West Berkshire.
Bike theft however doesn’t just happen on the street. There have been incidences of a number of burglaries that have resulted in the theft of expensive bikes and equipment.
