A 50-year-old woman has been jailed for 12 weeks after stealing a parcel full of sex toys.

Tracey Jones, of Burbidge Close, Calcot, Reading, had committed 43 offences of a similar nature to the theft in what the court file called a "shocking record". 

She stole the parcel, valued at £36.97, in Calcot on December 15, 2021, while serving a suspended 12 week prison sentence for nine counts of theft from a Waitrose in Thatcham.

At Reading Magistrates Court on June 20, 2022, the judge activated the suspended 12 week sentence and added two concurrent weeks in prison for the sex toy theft.

Jones received a suspended sentence on July 13, 2021 for stealing alcohol and razors from Waitrose in Kingsland Centre on nine separate occasions between March 3 and June 14 the same year.

The stolen goods had a total value of £1,597.

Jones has been ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £128 to be paid after six months.
