A resident has objected to ‘intrusive’ plans to install a new 15 metre 5G street pole in Bracknell.

CK Hutchison Networks Ltd, a telecom company that operates the 3 networks, lodged a proposal for the 5G pole and additional equipment cabinet to be fitted in Warfield.

If approved, the location of the H3G street pole would be on the land at the intersection of Priory Lane, Goddard Way and Goughs Lane.

The applicant claims there is an “acute need” for the new installation to “provide effective service coverage” in the area and the pole height will be the “minimum required” to do so.

5G is the fifth generation of network technology, while there is no official speed standard for it, many experts expect it to be ten times faster than 4G.

Resident of Greystock Road, Matthew Hill, registered an objection against the application claiming there are “more suitable sites” for the installation.

He added: “The proposal will damage the appearance of the street, spoiling the current rural setting. It’s also too close to the children’s playpark.

“The proposal is visually intrusive, potentially damaging house prices. It also reduces what is a clear space for pedestrians and cyclists.“
