An AMERICAN burger chain has been handed a new food hygiene rating.

Following recent council inspections restaurants across the county have been given a rating between one and five.

The hygiene rating system is used by local authorities to determine how food outlets store, handle and prepare the food they distribute to the public.

Bluegrass BBQ, a restaurant in Gun Street, Reading was given a new food hygie rating after assessment on May 23, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It was given a new four-out-of-five score.

It means that of Reading's 278 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 187 (67%) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
