A popular Reading pub is set to be transformed into a Miller and Carter steakhouse.

The planning application accepted by Reading Borough Council will see huge changes made to the Caversham pub located on Kidmore Road.

This includes the demolition of the existing entrance lobby meaning the construction of a new entrance and additional signage.

A proposed site plan has been made which includes what the restaurant will look like following the refurb.

A planning statement submitted to the council said: "Mitchell and Butlers Plc propose to introduce their Miller and Carter Steakhouse brand within the Grosvenor Public House.

“This necessitates both the rebranding of the existing building, which requires new signage, and also minor alterations externally to both the building and its curtilage."

The building, which is currently occupied by The Grosvenor Pub is being re-branded by Mitchells and Butler that own the established Miller and Carter Steakhouse.

This will be the second restaurant to open in Reading from the steakhouse chain. The current being located at The Oracle.

The statement added: "The external terrace to the front of the public house is to be upgraded to include new Jumbrellas with heating and lighting, new planting beds to the front of the area, replacing redundant planters and bollards at this point, and the removal of existing paving to be replaced with a new blue-black stone surface.
