AN INDEPENDENT business near Reading has announced it is closing its doors and will be going online instead.

The Dog Box, located in Greenacres Lane, Winnersh, has announced it is closing due to the ever-increasing cost of living crisis.

The pet shop sells raw dog food and has built up a strong client base over the years.

Sharing the devastating news on Facebook, the store owners said it is with a 'heavy heart' to have to make the decision to close on July 1.

"This is for many reasons, partially due to the rising costs of bloody everything but also we're looking to streamline and double down on what we're best at.. providing top notch care," they said.

"Also we have some exciting new projects we're keen to take a closer look later this year without spreading ourselves too thin.

"Thank you to all of the incredible clients we met and had the pleasure to serve. We enjoyed learning about your dogs and doing our best to keep them fed on the best diet possible."

From July 1 the business will be operating online for one exta month with two click and collect windows. This will be available Wednesday 12pm to 2pm and Saturday 10 am to 12pm.

As of right now until July 1 there is 20 per cent off everything both in store and online.
