Reading striker George Puscas is set to return to Berkshire after Pisa do not take up the offer to sign him permanently, according to reports in Romania.

The 26-year-old joined the Italian club in January and netted eight in 19 appearances as they just missed out on promotion to the Serie A.

It is said that has they been promoted, it would have activated a mandatory clause in which he would move on a full-time basis for five millions Euros.

There was also an option to sign him for just over two million Euros regardless of status, but a report from Digisport in his native Romania claim that "Pisa has chosen not to exercise its final transfer right for George Pușcaș."

However, it does also state that the club are looking for a new manager, and that this could change their transfer strategy.

"If the talks are positive, it is not ruled out that Pisa will resume talks with the three clubs for the three players, which it hopes to obtain at a lower price than the initial agreements," it states.

The former Inter Milan striker is still under contract for another two seasons in the Royal County after signing a five-year deal in 2019.

20 goals in 91 appearances has not set the world alight but with transfer restrictions on the club he may get a fresh start under new manager Paul Ince.
