Former Reading fan favourite Dylan Kerr's relegation survival techniques did the trick again this season as he kept Swallows in the South African DStv Premiership.

Yorkshireman Kerr played over 100 games for the Royals in the mid-1990s and is a co-host of the popular 1871 podcast.

Having already done the same with Black Leopards and Baroka FC in the past, he took the job with the Swallows in December 2021 on a six-month agreement.

Ending 15th, they needed to go through the convoluted play-off's to maintain their safety.

A 1-0 win over AmaTurks ensured they topped the group and secured top-flight status for another year.

Throwing his future into doubt, he told a South African outlet that he is to return to the UK before deciding upon his future.

Speaking to ZA South Africa, he said: “I came for six months. It is something that we both agreed on, me and the chairman [David Mogashoa], but I need to go home to the UK because I have some personal issues I need to sort out,” said Kerr.

“I have been here for 29 months., It has been a long time since I have been home and I need to go there and sort my personal life for myself, that’s an issue I have to deal with next week."
