Reading will have to wait just a week to find out their opponents for the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Being drawn just five hours after the 2022/23 Championship fixtures are released, the Royals can face any EFL side except recently-relegated Burnley and Watford.
Into its 62nd year, Reading have never gotten past the last eight- reaching the quarter-finals in 1996 and 1998.
Until last season's exit to Swansea City, it had been more than a decade since the Berkshire side were eliminated in the first round- losing to League One Charlton Athletic in 2011/12 as both sides went on to win their respective disivions.
Perhaps the most famous match for the club in the competition is the fourth round tie with Arsenal in 2012 as Brian McDermott's side threw a 4-0 lead away to lose 5-7, the highest scoring match in the history of the tournament.
Always a slow burner of a trophy, it saw the club's lowest crowd of the season last time out as less than 5,000 turned out.
