As the dust settles on a jam-packed Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend, it is time to reflect on the Reading FC Royal related transfer news you may have missed.

Reading Chronicle:

Shane Long

A rumour which has circulated almost every year since his departure in 2011, Ireland international Long is set to be a free agent after his release from Southampton.

According to Berkshire Live, Paul Ince’s side are “weighing up” a move to bring the 35-year-old back to Berkshire for a second stint- his first being from 2005-2011.

Matthew Sorinola

Formerly of MK Dons, Sorinola is a left-back currently with Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian Pro League. According to TEAMtalk, Norwich City are favourites, but he has attracted interest from Reading, Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City.

With more than two years on his deal on the continent, it would render a move unlikely due to the club’s ability to only sign free agents or loan’s due to the EFL plan for breaching Profit and Sustainability regulations.

It is a position of some concern for the club though following Chelsea’s Baba Rahman returning to Stamford Bridge after his season-long loan last campaign.

Josh Laurent

It is understood that the 2021 Player of the Season is weighing up his options after being offered a new deal with both Reading and Cardiff City, according to WalesOnline's Glen Williams.

The combative midfielder is one of five players with deals on the table at the SCL Stadium but none of which have given definitive answers on their futures.
