The Ghana full-back played almost 30 times on loan for the Royals last season and still has two years to run on a deal at Stamford Bridge.

There were rumours that the defender might be heading to Turkey to sign for giants Galatasaray, however Rahman said that he was only in the country for "personal reasons" and that the rumours were untrue.

This sparked debate on social media over whether supporters would welcome him back for another temporary spell in Berkshire, to which lots of arguments were put forward on both sides of the fence.

One supporter said, "I'd take him back asap. He's way better than what we've got."

This was backed up by someone saying "Immediately. I felt that he 'got' Reading."

However there were plenty who disagreed, with reported wages being a major factor in putting them off the World Cup hopeful.

One said "Wage demands will be too high" and another said "It's a potential option, but not necessarily a fan of the idea of going in to next season with the same back 4, especially given how poor they were as a unit over the whole season."
