Reading's Championship rivals Hull City are planning a showcase friendly with Ukraine giants Shakhtar Donetsk to raise money for those suffering during the Russian invasion.

Unbeaten against Paul Ince's side last season, the Tigers picked up four points over their two matches with the Berkshire side and finished 10 points clear in the table.

However, it was at the MKM Stadium that Reading secured their Championship survival despite a 3-0 defeat.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, "City are keen to build strong partnerships with clubs on the continent and the friendly with Donetsk will form part of those plans, with the club also keen on showing their support for the people of Ukraine."

This will be Shakhtar's first match for more than three months after the Ukraine Premier League was abandoned in April due to the war with Russia.

Reading are yet to announce their plans for pre-season, with Slovenia, Spain and Scotland popular destinations in the past.
