Reading striker George Puscas has been called up to the Romania squad ahead of their UEFA Nations League matches next month.

They are scheduled to have two fixtures with Montenegro as well as matches against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Finland.

The 26-year-old joined the Royals in 2019 but is currently on loan in Italy with Serie B side Pisa.

Eight goals in 18 appearances have helped the Nerazzurri into the Serie B play-off final against Monza.

It is reported that the Italian side have a contractual agreement to sign Puscas permanently if they win promotion to Serie A, and an option if they stay down.

A favourite with his national side, he has notched eight in 26 caps for Romania as well as 18 in 25 for the Under-21s.

Still under contract with the Royals, Puscas could return next season and play a part if new manager Paul Ince see's fit.

Highly-rated upon arrival from Inter Milan, he has scored 20 in 91 matches in RG2, including a five minute hattrick against Wigan Athletic in November 2019.

He played 27 times during the first half of the 2021/22 campaign, netting twice.
