Last season the Royals racked up just shy of 6,500 miles getting to and from their league matches, with five journeys shorter than 150-miles there and back.

This season they will surpass 7,000 miles regardless of who win's this weekend's play-off final and four trips are within 150-miles all round.

If Huddersfield Town were to go up their total would hit 7,230 and this increases yet against to 7,353 without Nottingham Forest in the division.

In comparison, the club's most travel-heavy Championship season since moving to the SCL Stadium was 2018/19, the last full season before Covid-19, which reached 7,096.

Whatever happens at Wembley on Sunday Paul Ince's side will be one of just seven teams hitting the 7,000 mark- and that is without potential trips to Barrow or Plymouth Argyle in the domestic Cup competitions.

Having said that, spare a thought for supporters of Swansea City and Sunderland who will accumulate more than 9,000 miles on the tank- with Norwich City and Cardiff City hitting 8,000.

At the other end of the spectrum, a Terriers promotion will see Birmingham City, West Brom and Coventry City trek less than 5,000 miles across the season- while a Tricky Trees promotion will tip them slightly over the mark, as well as Sheffield United.
