More than 40 former Reading stars returned to the SCL Stadium on Saturday to take part in the 150th anniversary celebration match between Steve Coppell and Brian McDermott.
The latter, who took the Royals to the Premier League in 2012, ran out 8-5 winners but it was about much more than the score line.
Over 10,000 supporters packed into the Lower West and the Sir John Madejski Stand to be at the once-in-a-lifetime event, and it wasn’t just the fans who had an enjoyable afternoon.
Take a look at the tributes below from the much-loved stars.

Thanks to all the supporters who turned out today. Disappointed with the result but if you concede 7 you’ll do well to win the game 😁 I’d love to say we go again next week but we won’t be #106

It was not only the ones who attended that got in on the nostalgia-action, with former players such as Adam Le Fondre, Steve Sidwell and Shane Lone sending emotional messages to Royals fans over the weekend.
There was certainly a lot of love out there yesterday and a lot of that would have been for the one and only @A1F1E9 🥲 #Royals150 pic.twitter.com/daDD3teowa

Leicester City (a) ... any memories of that fixture in the past Longy? 🤔
— Reading FC (@ReadingFC) May 21, 2022
Appreciate your professionalism and good luck with @SouthamptonFC tomorrow, but let's all remember the greatest away day 1-1 draw at Leicester in 2006 shall we?
