Thunder and lightning crackled and fizzed across Reading last night, but the town’s budding photographers did not find it (very very) frightening.

Residents braved the storm, which started at around 11pm, with their cameras to capture some exciting shots of the natural phenomena.

The Met Office had sent out a yellow weather alert last night, as clouds rolled over Reading and the air thickened before the rain.

Lightning shot dozens of times, lighting up streets and houses between 10pm and 11pm.

The strikes became heavier toward the last hour of the day, accompanied by thunder and then a short downpour of heavy rain.

Looking at the sunny skies this morning, you wouldn’t have thought the pictures below were taken last night.
