Former Reading manager Mark Bowen has seemingly revealed on social media that he will be the new Head of Football at the SCL Stadium.

The Welshman left AFC Wimbledon at the end of the 2021/22 season after the Wombles were relegated to League Two.

BerkshireLive reported that the former Reading loanee was set to come back in an “executive role” and that an official announcement would be made this week, however the Norwich City legend appears to have jumped the gun and announced it himself on his LinkedIn account.

First arriving in Berkshire as Technical Consultant in 2019, Bowen was made first team manager in October 2019 and guided the side to a comfortable 14th place before being dismissed ahead of the 2020/21 season and replaced by Veljko Paunovic.

There were attempts to keep him at the club at a boardroom level but this was turned down.

Supporters have been crying out for a figure to come in and assist the manager from above, with this appointment perhaps keeping fans onside ahead of a tricky summer ahead.
