A police investigation has begun following a serious road traffic incident in Reading earlier today, May 12.

The incident occurred between a pedestrian and a taxi on Kings Road travelling towards Reading at around 11am.

The pedestrian was rushed to hospital following the accident and is in serious condition.

Thames Valley Police are appealing to members of the public who may have been a witness or have footage of the crash.

So far, the cause of the collision is unknown.

Inspector Sarah Bartlett, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “I am appealing to members of the public and business owners to check if they have any footage of the collision, whether from dashcam, doorbell, mobile phones or CCTV. If you have any footage then please contact Thames Valley Police as soon as possible by visiting our website or calling 101, quoting reference number 43220205002.

“If you witnessed the collision, we would also be grateful if you could contact the force as soon as possible please.

“The Kings Road near Reading College is currently closed in both directions while emergency services are at the scene.
