EVERY month, dozens of residents are fined at Reading Magistrates’ Courts after they were caught skipping their train fares.

But naturally, these aren’t the only crimes committed at railway stations.

We’ve gone through the archives to find others who have been sentenced for the abuse, assaults, robbery and other crimes they committed at train stations in Berkshire.

Trisha Clifton

A woman on board a train to Reading was locked up after launching vile abuse at two Muslim passengers and threatening rail staff with ‘handguns’.

Trisha Clifton, of Firlands, Weybridge, threatened rail staff after being confronted, telling a train manager: “don’t make me get my two handguns out.”

The incident occurred on April 1, 2022, when Clifton was travelling on a train to Reading.

After being asked to present her ticket, the 49-year-old began taking her clothing off before setting them down next to two passengers and calling them ‘terrorists’.

She then threatened “don’t make me get my two handguns out” to the train manager.

Clifton continued the abuse saying “kill all the Muslims” while gesturing as if she was holding a gun.

Officers met the train at Reading railway station and searched Clifton, however, no firearms were found.

She was arrested before being interviewed by police in custody.

Appearing at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 4, a judge sentenced Clifton to six months in prison for religiously aggravated behaviour and breaching a criminal behaviour order.

Ryan Clarke

A Slough man assaulted three police officers and attacked members of staff at three train stations within the space of two days.

Ryan Clarke, formerly of Victoria Street, Slough, was jailed earlier this year for a range of offences.

On February 15, 2021, Clarke assaulted and harassed a woman in Slough on Tomlin Road.

On the same day, he assaulted a man at Maidenhead Train Station.

It is understood that the man was a member of staff at the station.

Two days after this, the Slough man assaulted three police officers in Maidenhead and caused criminal damage to the wing mirror of a car.

Later that month, on February 28, 2021, Clarke assaulted another man at Aylesbury train station.

He committed yet another assault at High Wycombe train station on March 21, 2021.

Appearing at Reading Crown Court on Friday, March 18, 2022, Clarke, 22, was sentenced to 20 months behind bars.

Unnamed 18-year-old

A thieving Slough sixth-former has been spared a prison sentence after a judge heard of his ambitions to go to university.

The 18-year-old was told he had been ‘stupid’ when he and two others robbed two a pair of friends at Windsor train station in January 2021.

The incident occurred when the trio yelled at the friends to ‘wait’ before one of the boys asked ‘have you got a phone for me?’ to one of the victims.

A Samsung phone was handed over before another boy said ‘you’ve got a nice looking jacket, take it off’ to the other victim.

He handed over his jacket, Samsung phone, portable speaker, Monzo bank card and Nike Jordan trainers -- more than £680 worth of items.

One of the victims was forced to walk home shoe-less after being robbed and it later emerged that the thieving trio used the Monzo card to buy £10.87 worth of goods.

Her Honour Judge Nott, sentencing, told the defendant that “people who commit robberies and come to the Crown Court generally go to prison.”

She added: “Bearing in mind your age and your guilty plea, I am not going to send you to prison.

“I’m going to give you a real chance. When you go to university, you don’t want it on your records that you have been subject to a prison sentence.”

The 18-year-old was given a 12-month community order for two counts of robbery and one count of fraud.

David Valentine

A man who was caught masturbating on a train at Reading Station was arrested after a passenger noticed him watching porn.

David Valentine, of Westerleigh Road, South Gloucestershire, was on a train from London to Swansea when he was caught outraging public decency.

The 32-year-old had tried to hide the porn on his phone behind a book but the passenger was still able to see it.

They also noticed Valentine had his hand down his trousers and was masturbating.

The passenger, who said they felt ‘extremely uncomfortable’, reported the man’s activity to police using a discreet text service.

Valentine was arrested on the platform at Reading for outraging public decency.

He was given a community order and a sexual harm prevention order on Friday, September 24 after being caught masturbating on Friday, August 27, 2021.

Dominik Bullock

A 'dangerous’ man has been jailed after continuously staring at a woman on a train between Reading and Newbury.

Dominik Bullock, 26, of Spurcroft road, Thatcham, was found guilty of causing intentional harassment, alarm or distress.

At about 1.45pm on Saturday, March 5, Bullock sat next to the victim on the train and began staring at her, very intently.

The victim asked him to stop staring several times as it was making her feel uncomfortable, but he refused.

She asked Bullock to move as he was blocking her exit, but he refused again telling her 'she would have to climb over him', while spreading his legs.

He was sentenced to 22 weeks in prison at Reading Magistrates’ Court in March 2022.
